Educational Excellence
Welcome to our continued vision for the future

The past twelve months have brought many exciting developments and improvements here at Cranford House as we have implemented the first phase of our 2020 Vision. This five year plan is our blueprint to ensure our school remains a site of educational excellence, where superb teaching and breadth of opportunity are matched by state-of-the art facilities.

It is now my pleasure to announce further areas of our 2020 Vision which will ensure that we continue to compete with the best and that all our pupils receive an education fit for the 21st century.

While some of these changes will alter the look and shape of Cranford House, I am very clear that our overriding ethos, the traditional values and the principles that have always made our school so successful will remain unchanged.

Clearly, this is a most exciting time in the history of our school. This brochure outlines the very positive developments that lie ahead and I hope you enjoy discovering more about the bright future that lies ahead of Cranford House.

Nursery: a bright start for our youngest achievers

It's no secret that children’s earliest experiences are hugely influential in the paths they subsequently choose to follow. At our Outstanding* Nursery School, the ethos of structured play and independent exploration provides young minds with a firm foundation for all their future learning. As an all-through school from 3-18, we are able to offer a seamless transition into Reception and onwards through Junior School, ensuring children make a truly flying start to their school careers. Junior School: Encouraging Curiosity and Exploration

We understand how boys and girls learn and it is exciting and gratifying to watch pupils in our co-educational Junior School learning and socialising together, while sharing in the broadest range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities. The ongoing development of our facilities that includes the addition of four new Junior classrooms, a Junior School Library, our new Junior Hall and a state-of-the-art Computing suite allows us to provide a vibrant, modern learning environment for our pupils. We aim to enable all our boys and girls to explore and take risks in their learning, whilst making the most of all the fantastic opportunities available to them both in the classroom and outside. Senior School: Motivating and Inspiring Success

We are delighted to confirm that from September 2020 our Senior School will admit boys into Year 7. This is a natural progression from our successful co-educational Junior School and we look forward to continuing to educate boys and girls in a setting where every pupil is able to fulfil their full potential. Our Senior School will continue to draw on the family feel and traditional values of Cranford House as a whole whilst providing the individual support and challenge needed to develop the accomplished, confident young men and women of the future. A bespoke education that focuses on the needs of each individual pupil will continue to form the cornerstone of our approach. LEARN MORE.

Sixth Form: Providing a Springboard to the Future

Life in Sixth Form at Cranford House will offer an exciting bridge between school and university, providing the chance to build independence whilst still enjoying the benefit of small classes and individual support and tuition at one of the country’s leading small independent schools. Our co-educational Sixth Form will build on the strong foundations of academic excellence laid at GCSE, offering both a bespoke education tailored to the individual and a broad and varied Sixth Form curriculum, all set within our new, purpose-built Sixth Form Centre. Sport: Celebrating Teamwork and Talent

Sport sits firmly at the heart of the curriculum within our busy, vibrant school, providing our pupils with the opportunity to learn new skills, challenge themselves, work as a team and simply have fun. From the youngest age, pupils are encouraged to engage in the broadest range of physical activities. Our team of specialist PE teachers and coaches provide expert coaching to develop skills and build understanding of the benefits of health and fitness. Our inclusive approach to sport enables all our pupils to participate in fixtures and competitive matches, via both our vibrant House system and as a member of one of our many school teams.

Expeditions: expanding horizons

Continuing to enrich our pupils through an exciting collection of trips and experiences is just as important to us as the range of new facilities being realised as part of our 2020 Vision. From Junior School to Senior School, our Expeditions and Enrichment Programme will allow pupils to explore new frontiers, both in far-flung locations and closer to home. A multitude of challenging and inspiring international trips will encourage pupils to expand their boundaries, including our World Challenge expeditions which offer a superb mix of adventure and charitable work.

Our vision

To equip our pupils for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world through an exciting programme of capital development and state of the art facilities.

To maintain our pupils’ excellent progress within a broad and challenging curriculum framework, which encompasses the traditional and the innovative, while establishing an enduring ethos for learning.

To ensure our pupils are happy, confident and motivated and that their self-belief, characterised by curiosity, resilience and a spirit of collaboration, inspires them to achieve at each stage of their individual learning journey.

To place Cranford House’s growing offer of a modern education, fit for the 21st century but based firmly on traditional values, at the heart of all our strategic planning.

To provide an innovative, opportunity-rich education, within a welcoming and nurturing community, which draws out the natural potential of each child.

Our Values

We have five core values which underpin everything we provide throughout the school. These values are:

  • Happiness
  • Confidence
  • Motivation
  • Challenge
  • Generosity of Spirit

"I am proud of the breadth of opportunities on offer at Cranford, the generosity of spirit and mutual respect the pupils have for each other and uniquely inclusive nature of all our activities. A Cranford House education really does prepare all our pupils for modern life and an exciting future."
