17 05 12 Year 11 Leavers Assembly Sm

This afternoon the Senior School joined together for our annual Leavers’ Service to mark the last day in school of our fabulous Year 11s.

The assembly gave us a chance to reflect on the year group’s wonderful qualities, as well as some of the highlights from their time at Cranford House. Their sense of fun, which was very evident during today’s Muck-Up Day, their enthusiasm for learning, their strong friendships and willingness to take on a challenge has made them impressive role-models for the younger pupils and they will be greatly missed.

The Senior Tutors also greatly enjoyed welcoming Year 11 parents into school last night for our Celebration Dinner. One of the many special features of school life at Cranford House is the strong sense of community, at the heart of which is the huge support the school receives from parents. This family community creates an environment where our pupils can flourish and develop the self-confidence and self-assurance that our Year 11s epitomise. I am sure you will all join me in wishing them every success in the summer examinations; I look forward to sharing their success with you in August.

Elsewhere in school, the Summer Term’s exciting programme of excursions saw Year 9 visiting Newbury’s Watermill Theatre for what I hear was an excellent production of Romeo and Juliet, while Reception headed out to Wittenham Clumps. They enjoyed a fantastic day full of exploration and investigation, with plenty of time for some tree climbing too! Meanwhile, some of our Year 8 scientists showed off their skills at the Salters Chemistry Festival, while our Junior boys and girls have been working hard on both the athletics field and the cricket pitch. I look forward to seeing the results of their endeavours, both in impending fixtures and on Sports Day.

With best wishes for a restful weekend
