We were delighted to welcome 70 pupils to school this morning for our annual Year 5 Senior School Experience Day.

This always brings an action-packed day full of activities and a chance to explore life in Senior School together. It is also a great opportunity for pupils to build new friendships, try new subjects and get to know the Year 7 pastoral team. I was particularly proud of the warm welcome provided by our pupils to those who were visiting Cranford House for the first time.

Although the end of the school year is on the horizon, life in school continues at an incredible pace! This week has seen an array of exciting trips, from Year 2’s visit to Windsor Castle and Year 3’s residential stay at Court Hill, to LEGO Club’s trip to LEGOLAND and the Senior Art department’s trips to the Ashmolean and Oxford's Botanic Gardens with Year 9 in preparation for their GCSE projects. For more photos of these inspiring trips, please visit our Flickr album.

It has also been another wonderful week of summer sport, which included fine victories for our Year 7 Cricket team vs Queen Anne’s, our Year 7 Rounders Bs over The Dragon, our Years 5 and 6 Cricket team against St Neots and a really thrilling game between our Year 9 Rounders Team and Langtree which saw Cranford House triumphing by half a rounder! I'm looking forward to more sporting treats at the Year 2 Athletics festival later this afternoon.

Elsewhere in school, a particular highlight came as we were treated to an array of wonderful musical performances from the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Orchestra, and both our Choirs at the Senior School Music Concert. As pupils performed a varied repertoire from John William's Indiana Jones March to Karl Jenkins’ Palladio, their sense of fun and love of music was truly infectious. My thanks to all the parents who joined a packed audience in the Willow Theatre.

Earlier in the week, I was delighted to welcome so many members of the PTA and our fabulous Form Reps into school to pass on my thanks for everything you do as a parent body to support the school and our pupils. It really has been a tremendous year of activities from the PTA and we are very grateful indeed for everything our parents continue to do for the school.

Finally, I'm sure you will join me in congratulating our Year 11s who have now entered the last few days of their GCSEs, with many of them completing their final examination this morning! We have been incredibly proud of their approach this term and I look forward to sharing news of their success with you later in the summer! Good luck for a final weekend of revision to those Year 11s who still have their German GCSE next week.

With best wishes for the weekend,

Dr James Raymond
