It has been incredibly exciting in school as we returned from half term to our historic Wings and Wheels week!

Across the school, pupils have enjoyed the opportunity to explore the science, engineering and design principles behind an assortment of incredible cars and planes, with inspiring results. Just today we have welcomed a BA simulator, an Aston Martin, a Formula 1 car and a stock car with stunt driver into school!

From building and designing cars in Reception and Year 4 to testing aeroplanes in flight and video calls with the Blades Aerobatic Team in Years 3 and 5, it has been an exceptional few days. I really enjoyed joining Year 6 as they continued their Second World War theme by exploring wartime planes. The Wings and Wheels theme also made waves in Senior School courtesy of some very impressive Inter-House paper aeroplane designs and fascinating Form Time discussions.

I am hugely grateful for the incredible support that has been provided by the host of parents who have joined us to support this week’s event in school. Thanks also to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Care by dressing in pink for school today.

I hope the pictures in our album of the week allow you to catch a small glimpse of everything that has been going on in school. We look forward to sharing even more fantastic activities with those of you that can join us for tomorrow morning’s Discovery Day.

Half-term provided further excitement as Mrs Heard, Mrs Powell and Miss Holbrook took an intrepid group of Senior pupils across the Atlantic to New York for a tour packed with theatre workshops, site seeing and cultural exploration. My thanks to them for leading this wonderful opportunity for our Performing Arts students to hone their skills with some of the world’s leading performers!

Pupils from Years 5 to 10 also headed off to London’s Copper Box Arena to watch this year’s Fast5 Netball Championships. Full of fast-moving action, this fabulous day trip culminated in a win for Wasps and a television appearance for our pupils in the audience!

Finally, we were delighted to receive our Inspection Report this week. It is always our pleasure to open the doors of our school and we were very pleased to see everything we are doing here at Cranford House recognised in a highly successful inspection process.
