Our week-long celebration of languages, cultures and cuisines is drawing to a close today after five genuinely inspiring days.

As well as taster lessons in Portuguese, Polish and Dutch, we’ve also been treated to a special Languages Week quiz, a fantastic assembly from our Year 11s and a simply superb array of inventive cakes inspired by the theme. Very well done to Grace Prideaux-Reynolds of Year 8 whose amazing Italian cake took first prize, but also to all the pupils whose participation and enthusiasm has made the week such a success, not to mention the teachers whose hard work made it all possible.  Please do take a look at some photos from the week here.

More inspiration has come courtesy of this year’s Henley Literary Festival, which our Junior classes have visited this week. Listening to authors share their enthusiasm about writing, illustrating and story telling is a perfect match for the strong reading culture we’re so proud of in school. It was fantastic to see the children enjoying the experience so much.

Last night’s visit from the circus also proved truly entertaining. Inside the big top, a full house were treated to a thrilling mix of diablo spinning, juggling and aerial acrobatics, all accompanied by great refreshments. My thanks go to the PTA for organising this super family event and to the very many of you who came along and supported it.

Finally, on the eve of our annual Open Morning, I look forward to welcoming many of you  into school tomorrow. It is always a great pleasure to be able to share our school community with new and existing families and pupils.

Best wishes

Dr J Raymond
