It’s been a week that has seen celebrations of many kinds taking place right across school, amongst some of our youngest members to our most recent alumni.

The festivities started on Monday night as last year’s Year 11s returned to school for their GCSE Presentation Evening. As it is each year, the evening is a memorable occasion, giving staff and ex-pupils the chance to catch up on news, as well as celebrating each of the girls’ achievements. It was wonderful to welcome them back to school again and to hear all their tales of life after Cranford House so far!

Next, came two performances of our Key Stage 1 Christmas Show, which I wholeheartedly enjoyed, with both my proud parent and Headmaster hats on at once! I can honestly say the clarity, confidence and enthusiasm with which the children acquitted themselves was fantastic. My thanks to all the staff who worked so hard in helping the children prepare and my congratulations to all the boys and girls who took part in such a superb show. Their confident, cheerful, assured performances were a ringing endorsement of all that we are trying to achieve in school on a daily basis.

It fell to our Reception children to round off the week with a beautiful Crib Service held in our local church, St John’s, Moulsford, this morning. This traditional celebration of the Christmas story is always a moving reminder of the true meaning of the festive period and this year’s service was no different. Very well done to all the boys and girls who took part.

Finally, my congratulations go to our Gymnastics team who headed off to compete at St Helen & St Katharine’s on Wednesday night, returning with a very well-deserved second place, as well as individual gold and bronze medals for Olivia of Year 8 and Kaya of Year 7. Well done to all the team on a fantastic performance! Congratulations also to Year 4 who took part in a special Christmas badminton tournament this week; well done to the victors, Carter and Sophie!

With best wishes
