Sea Recrop

This week in school has brought together so many of the elements that make Cranford House such a special place.

Whilst excellent teaching and an academic focus are a given here, it is the many additional opportunities that our pupils enjoy that combine to make for an excellent, rounded education.

Seeing our Year 4 pupils return from their residential trip to New Barn wreathed in smiles was just one snapshot of such opportunities. I received a wonderful email from Mrs I’Anson, explaining just how proud she was of our pupils, the resilience they’d shown and the growing independence they’d demonstrated during their activity-packed stay in Dorset. That is exactly what such trips are designed to garner in our Junior pupils. Of course, the glorious weather didn’t hurt either!

Back at school, our Reception class welcomed parents to their annual Tea Party. A very smart affair thanks to the elegantly dressed guests and the children’s beautifully made decorations, it proved a wonderful celebratory event. Delicious sandwiches and biscuits prepared by the children themselves were on offer and a musical highlight came as the class performed a super rendition of There's A Worm At The Bottom of My Garden.

Meanwhile, on our back field, Years 1 and 2 have been limbering up for Sports Day, practising a variety of sprints and those tricky relay baton changes! Miss Carrington assures me we have some very exciting races to look forward to on 21 June. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us in cheering the children on.

We also enjoyed a superb assembly from our Year 2s, telling us all about the chicks they hatched earlier in the term. They stepped up to the challenge of speaking in front of an audience of parents brilliantly and their costumes were inspired!

Please do take a look at our online albums to see more photos from all this week’s events.

Wishing you all a wonderful half-term break.
