We enjoyed a double musical treat as not one, but two Junior Music Festivals took place, providing a whole host of instrumental and vocal treats for their audiences.

Our Music Department sent this report: "A wonderful mixture of musical talent entertained us on Wednesday at our Music Festivals. In the morning, Reception and KS1 impressed us with their delightful group singing on an animal theme. There was lots of enthusiastic singing with a great sense of fun and enjoyment. The concert also gave Year 2 the opportunity to share their violin skills with an audience for the first time. We are very grateful to Mrs Bromley for preparing Year 2 for this tuneful performance, which showed a great sense of ensemble. We were also treated to some individual instrumental and singing performances and all of these were executed with great confidence and flair, particularly for children of such a young age. Our adjudicator, Mrs Hill, a professional harpist, brightened the day with her encouraging and cheerful feedback and the whole event was rounded off with a rousing performance of Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds.

The afternoon comprised of an Inter-House Music Competition for Years 3 to 6. This gave all our performers a chance to share their musical abilities in a selection of instrumental and vocal solos and duets, culminating with each House producing an uplifting song from a musical. It was very exciting to see such a wide variety of different instruments being played and to witness the excellent progress that is being made across all the year groups. We are extremely grateful to Mrs Cairns for joining us on this occasion and giving the children such rich and positive comments as they start out on their musical journey. Mrs Cairns is a professional singer and it really was a pleasure for all present to listen to her inspirational and nurturing feedback. Congratulations to everyone who performed at the festival and to St Nicholas who were the overall winning House."
