Music plays a huge part of life at Cranford House. Over 200 instrumental lessons take place each week with a team of 10 peripatetic music staff.
The emphasis is on the involvement of as many of the school as possible in some form of music, and there are a huge variety of different ensembles and groups to cater for a wide range of styles and genres. Starting in Nursery all our pupils have the benefit of specialist teaching and from Year 1 upwards pupils are included in choral rehearsals and activity.
Music plays a central role in life at Cranford and the Department offers study on a wide variety of orchestral and non orchestral instruments at all levels. Like all elements of Cranford life we believe that all pupils should have access to music, and the opportunity to perform. To this end every opportunity is promoted, both with regard to participation in and attendance at a wide spectrum of activities.
The department comprises a passionate and dedicated staff, who offer pupils opportunities to take part in a wide variety of musical activity - ensembles, choral concerts, orchestral performance, jazz and funk fusion groups, choral training days, rock and pop performance nights.
This part of the website gives a good idea of what we do, including forthcoming events. You would be very welcome in visiting us, whether it is as a member of an audience, a singer within our choral society (Cranford Choral Society meet on a Monday evening at 8pm), a prospective music student or scholar parent, or as an interested local musician.
