Drama and the Performing Arts are central to the life of our school. We are proud to celebrate the best of our acting and musical talent in our annual plays, musicals and dance productions, whilst also ensuring inclusivity prevails across the board.

Drama

At Cranford, Drama is taught to support talent, build confidence and enable positive group and presentation skills, whether on the stage or behind the scenes.

Each school year sees both a school play and a musical production being staged by Senior School pupils, with the emphasis firmly on everyone taking part, be it as a stage runner, make up artist, lighting technician or actor. Recent productions have included A Little Shop of Horrors, Half A Sixpence, Lord Of The Flies, Our Day Out, Macbeth and Bugsy Malone.

Music

The all-inclusive approach that lies at the heart of our Music Department ensures that every child has the chance to develop their musical talent and that the music staff are here to help unlock the potential of all our pupils. Our host of choirs, bands, quartets and ensembles are all designed to help pupils flourish and grow as musicians, both for academic attainment and for pleasure. It is particularly rewarding to see so many of our pupils achieving at the highest level and being inspired to study music at A-Level and beyond.

Dance

We have a strong tradition of celebrating dance in all its forms here at Cranford. Our annual Senior School Dance Show sees all our Senior pupils performing in their individual Forms, regardless of ability or experience, whilst also providing a fantastic showcase for the superb individual talent we have within the school.

We also offer a wide range of dance clubs and squads, ranging from clubs aimed at absolute beginners looking to get involved in dance for the first time, to elite squads for the most experienced dancers. Pupils can experience everything from tap dancing to street dance and modern.
