The new term has well and truly swung into action here at school with clubs resuming, sports practices taking place and the quiet hum of concentration in classrooms.

In particular, our Year 11 pupils have spent their first week back at school tackling a demanding examination schedule as they take on their mock GCSEs. I would like to commend them on the determination and dedication they have displayed throughout this week, as well as the many hours of hard work they have put in over the holidays. Their mock results will form just part of the detailed assessment and tracking process that we use across the school to follow each pupil’s progress. This allows us to provide just the right support wherever needed which, in turn, is integral to achieving the superb results that we celebrate each year with our pupils, results of which we are rightly proud. We all look forward to supporting our Year 11s in the coming term as they approach the summer’s examinations

In the meantime, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Ooko to the role of Assistant Head of Year 11, working alongside Mrs Mir, of Miss Newton to the post of Head of Year 8 and of Mr Burden who will take on the role of Year 5 teacher. I'm also delighted to let you know that Mrs Mitcham and Mrs Sear both welcomed baby boys over the Christmas break - our heartfelt congratulations to them both.

With best wishes

Dr James Raymond
