Senior Experiene Day Oct2019

While our regular mix of inspiring lessons, exciting extra-curricular clubs and energetic sporting fixtures have taken place as usual this week, our thoughts have also been on the next part of our pupils’ educational journeys.

With a host of events taking place in school, all focused on moving on to another stage of learning, it makes me very proud to know that we are ready to guide and support our pupils whatever their next educational steps.

Firstly, the weekend’s Open Morning proved an unqualified success with over 150 families, both current and prospective, joining us to explore what a Cranford House education has to offer their children as they move through their schooling. My thanks to all of you who came along. This was followed in short order by our third Senior Experience Day as Year 6 pupils from surrounding schools joined our own boys and girls to discover more about the exciting opportunities that life in Senior School holds for them. There was great enthusiasm on display as they donned lab coats for STEM, headed to the theatre for a Performing Arts lesson, sampled Senior Clubs and worked up an appetite on our Astro in an energetic Football skills session!

The end of the week found us celebrating a new benchmark as we held our first ever Sixth Form Scholarship and Taster Day. Designed to allow our Year 11s to explore their possible A-Level choices in greater depth, it also gave them the chance to sample Sixth Form life ahead of our launch in September. Today sees the same year group heading off to London to attend the What Career and What University Live event and I’m sure they will return inspired by all the exciting possibilities for the future presented to them.

Finally, my congratulations to our Senior XI Hockey team who scored a fine victory over their hosts, Headington, this week and to our Year 8 A and B teams who did very well at the recent Prep Schools tournament, narrowly missing a semi-final spot by a whisker. Well done to everyone who has represented our school this week.

Best wishes
