We’ve enjoyed a spectacular week across the whole school showcasing our pupils’ creativity and sporting prowess.

Monday saw the opening of a remarkable GCSE Art & Exhibition demonstrating an incredible breadth and variety of work, as well as real complexity and technical talent. It was wonderful to be able to share it with a host of parents and younger pupils who were inspired by the quality of work on display. Many congratulations to the Year 11 pupils and the Art and Textiles department on creating such a superb exhibition.

Year 11 now go on to enjoy a well-deserved rest after the last GCSE Examination took place on Monday. They have handled the examination season with great maturity, focus and determination and we wish them luck as they now head off on work experience before joining us again for Prize Giving.

The middle of the week saw two truly sensational performances as audiences were transported to Transylvania for an evening of high drama thanks to Year 7 and 8’s production of 'Dracula Spectacular'! A complex script was delivered with panache (and some great accents) and pupils’ musicality, characterisation and comedy timing were fantastic. Well done to our Drama department and everyone involved in bringing the story to life in such an entertaining and joyful way.

Yesterday brought an equally exciting spectacle at our Junior School Sports Day. Exceptional athleticism, competitive spirit and strong friendships were on display in abundance as pupils cheered on their friends and supported their House. The day was characterised by a strong sense of fun, as well as personal bests, school records and brilliant competition, and all our pupils should feel very proud of their performance. I hope all of you who joined us for this annual celebration of sport enjoyed it as much as I did.

We end the week with our annual Move-up Day, having been joined in school by over 80 new families this morning. I am sure you will join me in extending them a very warm welcome to the Cranford House community.

With best wishes

Dr James Raymond
