Wings & Wheels: 2018 Junior School Day of Discovery
Saturday 3 November 2018 10am - 12pm
Wings & wheels was a roaring success
The sights and sounds of some unique motorcars and wonders of aviation greeted those attending this year's memorable Junior School Day of Discovery, Wings and Wheels. Our open community event here at Cranford House welcomed an enthusiastic collection of parents and young families who enjoyed a wide range of STEM inspired activities and spectacles on display.
It was an action packed morning across the entire school site with our junior adventurers taking turns landing a jumbo jet in the British Airways flight simulator, getting up close to a Force India Formula 1 racing car and being blown away by the roar of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. Several hands on experiments and activities were also enjoyed across the school.
Our selected charity for the event and throughout the school academic week was Breast Cancer Care. Through pupil contributions, cake-bake sales during the school week and generous donations from visitors on Saturday, we raised £1,500 on behalf of the Force India Fundraising Campaign in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
Cranford House was delighted to welcome so many visitors to our 2018 Junior Day of Discovery. The school is proud to organise and host these community events, which help to inspire young minds and celebrate Science and Engineering.Headmaster, Dr James Raymond
Fireflies Aerobatic Team
The skies above Cranford House played host to one of the UK's best display teams. Fireflies put on an unforgettable show.
Racing Point Force India F1
We are delighted that we had the unique opportunity to host a modern day formula one racing car, a true spectacle of modern engineering.
Throughout the day, donations were accepted on behalf of the Racing Point Force India Formula 1 Team in aid of Breast Cancer Care. Thank you to all who contributed.
RAF Jaguar - Sadman
This genuine RAF Jaguar was a real hit with all ages. Sitting in the cockpit of a decorated Royal Air Force fighter jet gave visitors a unique experience of what it takes to be a pilot and fly at 1,700 km/h.
All the staff and pupils of Cranford House look forward to seeing our young guests and parents at the next Junior Day of Discovery in 2019. If you have any specific inquiries please send an email to the School Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A huge thank you to the Headmaster, all the staff, volunteers and pupils that made the Wings and Wheels event so wonderful on Saturday. We had a truly amazing morning and it completely exceeded all of our expectations. There was so much to see and do that we just couldn’t fit it all in. Our daughter will be talking about it for weeks to come I’m sure!Kind regards - Parent
