Despite the inclement temperatures, boys and girls from across the school have been out and about showing real sporting prowess and determination this week.

Both Junior and Senior School pupils have been in action on the astro in a series of fiercely contested House Hockey matches that celebrated both the Cranford House spirit of inclusion and some real competitive grit! Well done to all the boys and girls who represented their Houses this week. I look forward to further excitement on the pitch as the Year 7 House teams meet next Tuesday.

Today brought further sporting action as we cheered home pupils from Years 5 to 9 who took part in our Running Club’s first ever 5K race. Taking on a testing course around Moulsford Village, our runners rose to the challenge in very impressive style, with every single participant finishing the five kilometre course. Huge congratulations to each and every one of them, and to our Running Club leader, Mrs Lanyon, who accompanied them round. First place went to Bella of Year 8, followed by Esme of Year 7 and Amelia of Year 5. As a keen, but lapsed, runner who has recently been trying to find the time to go running myself, I feel truly inspired to get my own trainers on this weekend!

Finally, this week’s Year 7 and 8 Talent Show gave us the opportunity to retreat into the warm as we enjoyed an eclectic mix of talents that included everything from instrumental recitals to vocal performances and card tricks! The genuine sense of fun and the supportive atmosphere that prevailed as pupils cheered their peers on was just as in evidence here as it was at all of the week’s sporting events. My special thanks go to Natalya and Grace of Year 8, the creative masterminds behind this very enjoyable show.
