It’s my pleasure to report that yesterday’s annual Rock & Pop Concert provided us with a truly spectacular display of the musical talent here in school.

With around 150 individual music lessons taking place in Senior School each week, perhaps I should be less surprised by their excellence. Nevertheless, seeing them take to the stage with composure in front of a packed house and deliver such confident performances both amazed and impressed me. Our Music Department really is very special and my thanks go to all of you who came along to celebrate this and to support all our performers. Please click here for more photos of the evening.

This week has also seen Junior School abuzz thanks to two days of exciting activities based around our Philosophy for Children programme. It was great to see so many parents joining us for a special assembly and workshop about the programme. I hope you found it informative in understanding how it will provide real benefits for our pupils.

A further highlight came as we welcomed children from Goring, Whitchurch, Stoke Row and Crowmarsh Primary Schools, as well as some of our own pupils, for the second of our day-long Drama Workshops. Watching them come together to form their own dramatic troupe and produce a superb performance for parents on Tuesday afternoon was really joyous. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating everyone involved.

On the sports pitches, we were delighted to celebrate numerous victories, including wins for both of our co-ed Junior Football teams over Valley Road, for our Senior 1st Netballers over Icknield College and for all three of our Year 8 teams over Pangbourne College.

We end the week preparing for the start of work on our new Junior School extension on Monday and we are all most excited about the opportunities that this will bring to pupils in the Autumn Term. Please rest assured that the greatest care and attention is being paid to minimising disruption to day-to-day life in school. Thank you for your continued support on this exciting journey for Cranford House.

With best wishes
