A backdrop of glorious weather provided us with a wonderful backdrop for the start of the Summer Term.

It has been fantastic to see our pupils approaching their return to school with energy and excitement. I always look forward to the arrival of Cricket, Rounders and Athletics so I have enjoyed seeing practice in full flow across the school this week. My staff and I have also been impressed by the mature and assured approach taken by Year 11 as they return for the final weeks before their GCSE Examinations. I am sure you will join me in wishing them well for the term ahead.

This morning, it was our pleasure to welcome many of you to this morning's Founder’s Day Service at Dorchester Abbey. As always this was a special occasion and an opportunity to reflect on the core ethos and values that bind us together as whole school community. We talked together about the importance of generosity of spirit, kindness and happiness in our daily lives at school and how each of us can make a difference to the world we live in. The service was followed by a celebratory BBQ and a host of House games bringing together pupils from Reception to Year 11. One of the many great joys of life at Cranford House is the strong link between pupils across the Junior and Senior School and I hope you enjoy seeing this for yourselves as you take a look at the photos from this special day.

Founder’s Day held a particular resonance this week as we shared news about the next steps in our 2020 Vision and our gradual move to a fully co-educational environment over the coming years. We've been delighted by the positive reaction from pupils and parents and I hope you have all had the opportunity to head online to visit our new 2020 microsite and expanded Sixth Form website pages. I look forward to welcoming many of you to our Parents’ Forum events next week.

With best wishes

Dr James Raymond
