It’s been my pleasure to spend time with many of our pupils in school this week.

We started the week by welcoming families to our Cranford House Reception taster afternoon. It was fantastic to see the children enthusiastically exploring all the activities on offer in our spacious classroom, as well as investigating our garden - the construction and water areas proved particularly popular! The afternoon culminated in a family story session, enjoyed by adults and children alike.

Another highlight came as Year 2 presented an amazing assembly based on Mathematics and times tables. The boys and girls shared their two, five and ten times tables with us, singing and dancing their way through the maths, alongside a mini Mrs Morris and Mrs Bennett! The assembly also provided our Junior Leadership Team with a chance to launch a new project encouraging pupils to design their own ideal school uniform. It will be great to see the creative and outlandish ideas the children come up with (but I can reassure you that we will be keeping the uniform just as it is!)

I also enjoyed meeting with our other pupil leadership team, the Senior Head Girls, to discuss their exciting plans for the rest of the school year and their suggestions for developing the school. I look forward to seeing their ideas come to fruition.

Today brought the chance for me to take a look at the incredible array of models that our Year 7 biologists have produced as part of their learning about cells. Their inventiveness was truly impressive as was the industry that had gone into making all their fantastic creations. Well done, everyone.

Finally, congratulations to our five Senior Netball teams who all emerged victorious from their matches against King Alfred’s, D’Overbroecks and St Joseph’s last night, and to our two Year 3 teams who won both their first ever competitive matches earlier in the week against Our Lady’s Abingdon. Good luck to our Junior Football team who head into action against Valley Road later this afternoon.
