This week marks the midway point in the GCSE Examination cycle and the end of Summer Examinations for the rest of our Seniors.

I am pleased to report my pride in the way that our pupils have conducted themselves. With a demanding schedule of tests and the torment of glorious weather outside as they sat in exam halls, the girls have demonstrated real self-discipline and focus. It was our great pleasure to reward them with some very well-earned ice lollies!

The examination season gives me cause to reflect on our aim to instil academic ambition in each of our pupils. We firmly believe that every one of the pupils in our care can aim high, commit themselves to the hard work required and experience that wonderful feeling of opening an envelope full of great grades. Whilst we are very clear that school is about much more than just examinations and results, it is very heartening to see the school going from strength to strength in terms of academic attainment. It is just as fantastic to see our dedicated subject teachers giving up every spare moment to support their GCSE pupils, fitting in endless extra tuition and revision sessions and really going the extra mile to ensure the girls are as prepared as possible. My thanks to them for all their hard work.

I wish our Years 7-10 a well-deserved rest over half-term and send all our Year 11s my very best in preparing for the rest of their examinations.

With best wishes

Dr J Raymond
