The beautiful Spring weather this week has been so welcome and meant several of our pupils have enjoyed lessons outside. Year 7 pupils had a great afternoon spray painting skateboards as part of their Graphic Design lesson, whilst Year 3 explored the school grounds to identify and draw plants, as they learnt about famous botanists in Science.

The PE department have also been making the most of the finer weather, rejoicing in the warmer temperatures and enjoying lots of fast-paced lessons with pupils across the school. Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils have been working hard in Netball and Hockey, taking part in inter-school competitions and training sessions and having great fun developing agility playing invasion games in basketball and PE. Key Stage 4 pupils have also enjoyed the inter-school competitions, whilst getting to grips with volleyball!

Year 5 have been exploring one of my favourite periods, learning all about Tudors, including the gruesome beheading of Anne Boleyn and learning about how criminals were hung drawn and quartered. Fortunately, it hasn’t all been guts and gore as they also embraced their creative skills making Tudor Houses!

Junior School Council met this morning via Teams. The meeting was very well attended with representatives from each year group. The councillors had plenty to say and were able to represent the views from their forms with great confidence and clarity. Mrs Lanyon is looking forward to giving the Junior School Council some questionnaires which they will use with their forms to gather vital information on subjects from play times to meal times.

It has been good to see the Sixth Form Common Room fully utilised once again and heavily adorned with tea, coffee and hot chocolate mugs! Year 12 have enjoyed hearing this week about the University application process as they begin to consider life beyond Cranford. This morning, they have had meetings about their post A-level choices and they also enjoyed taking part in the 'Which University?' conference online. Today also marked the premier of our Biomedical Club, available to Years 10-12 pupils who have an interest in the medical field. They enjoyed hearing about the day in the life of an orthopaedic surgeon and are looking forward to a programme of ongoing talks, including one next week from a medical ethics adviser.

Finally, it has been lovely to see our Year 11 enjoying their new Common Room today! They were delighted with the surprise that greeted them at break time, as Mr Cowley unveiled their newly decorated space, complete with hot chocolate!

We hope you enjoy a few pictures from this week:

Have a good weekend!
