Easter Service Mar 2019

Another enjoyable week in school has brought our Spring Term to a close.

It’s been a week that has seen us exploring the meaning of Easter as Junior pupils headed to St John the Baptist church, Moulsford, for two joyful Easter services. Some wonderful hymn singing from even our youngest pupils and some assured poetry recitals ensured a fitting celebration of Easter.

Meanwhile, parents and staff celebrated in their own fashion as the PTA’s spectacular Thunderball transformed our Sports Hall into a glittering Casino Royale! It was a fantastic evening of dining and dancing, all to raise valuable funds for school, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of those who worked so hard to bring the event it to fruition.

Thursday evening also saw our Year 10 Youth Speaks team contesting in the third round of this public speaking competition, acquitting themselves brilliantly against a field of much older contestants. My congratulations go to Katie, Alice and Grace for their excellent progress in this hotly contested competition.

We also learnt the fantastic news that Ava of Year 11 has secured a place at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. The conservatoire is one of the most prestigious in the world and securing places is a hugely difficult feat, making this achievement truly superb. Very well done, Ava.

I’m delighted to say that the great progress being made on our Sixth Form building will be readily visible by time we return after the break, as the building will have really started to rise from the ground. Also this week, we released details of changes to the timings of the Junior School day. As well as offering significant educational benefits, we hope that these alterations which stagger the start and end of the day will ease pressure on the car park.

Finally, we bid a very fond farewell to Mrs Brudenell who has been with the school as both a parent and member of staff for some 16 years. Her various roles spanned working as a TA, joining the Art department and, most latterly, fulfilling the role of Music Department Administrator. We wish her all the very best.

With best wishes

Dr James Raymond
